Woman, dog killed in hit-run collision

2 girls, young man shot during party

HOLLYWOOD - Two teenage girls and a man were expected to survive after being shot during a party in Hollywood, Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  police said Sunday.

Watts-area gunfire fatal for two men

WATTS - Two men were fatally shot in separate attacks in the Watts area, authorities said Sunday.

Deputies said they found one suspect in a bush in a yard of a home and ordered him to surrender, but he ``stood and pointed a handgun at the deputies,'' according to the statement. There was no immediate report on the man's condition.

A man shot to death in the Westlake district was identified Sunday.

Chester Clarence Chang, 26, of Santa Monica died in the shooting after a fight in the 500 block of South Berendo Street about 2:50 a.m. Saturday, authorities said.

Chang died on the spot, Los Angeles police said.

The shooting suspect's car, believed to be a Lexus, was last seen headed north on Berendo, according to Los Angeles police.

A pistol was found on the sidewalk, but it was not immediately known if it was the gun used in the killing, police said. Detectives assigned to the Rampart station will handle the case.
