Crash victim, 77, dies from injuries

WOODLAND HILLS - A 77-year-old Northridge woman died Saturday from injuries she suffered in a traffic collision a day earlier, police said.

Angele Ghazarian died about 1:30 a.m. at Northridge Hospital. She was a passenger in a car driven by her husband, Haroutioun Ghazarian, 82, who also was injured in the crash at 5:30 p.m. Friday.

Their car was going north on De Soto de So·to   , Hernando or Fernando 1496?-1542.

Saugus resident in I-5 crash ID'd

Witnesses told investigators that after Maniago Beleno lost control, the car spun out and crashed into a light pole, California Highway Patrol Officer Vince Ramirez said.

2 men shot near previous attack

PANORAMA CITY - Two men were wounded in a shooting in the Panorama City area, a day after a man was fatally shot in the same part of the San Fernando Valley, authorities said Saturday.

The men, both in their late 20s, were meeting with another group of people at 10:45 p.m. Friday near Sylmar Avenue and Tupper Street, said Sgt. Jeff Harte of the Los Angeles Police Department's Devonshire Station.

The victims, whose names haven't been made public, were standing outside the vehicle they arrived in when someone from another group pulled a gun and began shooting, Harte said.

One man was hit in the left arm and grazed near his stomach. The other was shot in the foot, Harte said, adding neither wound was life- threatening.

A man was fatally shot Thursday night while using a public telephone near Plummer Street and Van Nuys Boulevard, about a block from Friday's attack.

The two shootings weren't believed to be related, Harte said.

Driver accused in injury collision

A motorist was arrested on suspicion of felony hit and run as well as drunken driving following a crash Saturday on the Hollywood Freeway in the Hollywood Hills area, said the California Highway Patrol.

The driver and three other people - a 20-year-man, a 17-year-old girl and an unidentified female - suffered major injuries. A 15-year-old girl suffered moderate injuries, and an unidentified female escaped with only minor injuries.

The collision on the northbound freeway, north of Pilgrimage Terrace in the Hollywood Hills area, was reported to the CHP CHP Chapter

Carlos A. Velasco, a 22-year-old North Hollywood resident, was reportedly driving a 1995 Acura Integra when he made an unsafe turning movement to the right, crossing the traffic lanes and continuing eastbound.

The car then struck some trees and shrubs along the east road edge. The Acura then hit a metal light pole and a chain-link fence. The car overturned and slid onto its roof onto Cahuenga Boulevard East.

The force of the crash caused all the passengers in the rear of the car to be ejected. When the car finally came to a rest, Velasco reportedly tried to flee the scene on foot.
