Council to check PR company offer

Chick had identified $4.2 million in questionable billings, while the outside auditors determined that the city stood to recover $850,000 in overbilling costs had the case gone to trial.

Fleishman-Hillard last week agreed to pay the city $4.5 million and drop its billing requests for $1.2 million as well as issue an apology.

101-405 ramps closed for project

Caltrans announced Tuesday it has shut down key ramps at the 101-405 Freeway interchange to begin a $46 million improvement project.

The Sepulveda Greenleaf on-ramp to the Ventura Freeway The Ventura Freeway is a freeway in southern California running from Ventura to Pasadena. It is the principal east-west route through Ventura County and in the southern San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles County.  will remain shut down until late winter 2006, while the ramp to the San Diego Freeway The San Diego Freeway (Interstate 405, and the part of Interstate 5 south of the El Toro Y[1]) is one of the principal north-south highways in Southern California, and the major beltway of I-5 running through Southern California.  will be shut down until early 2007. The off-ramp will remain open. The Ventura Boulevard Ventura Boulevard is one of the primary east-west thouroughfares in the San Fernando Valley; as it was originally a part of the El Camino Real (the trail between Spanish missions), Ventura Boulevard is the oldest route in the San Fernando Valley. It was also U.S.  on-ramp to the northbound 405 is now permanently closed.

The reworked interchange is expected to reopen in spring 2007.

Reagan's diaries to be published

HarperCollins acquired the rights to publish Ronald Reagan's hand-written diaries from his eight-year term as the nation's 40th president, officials said Tuesday.

The book will be published next year. The writings, which are at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library Coordinates:

The first volume of the diaries went on display Monday at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library.

 Ronald Reagan will be at the Reagan Presidential Library at 2 p.m. today to present a plaque commemorating the inaugural voyage of the aircraft carrier.

The ship was christened by Nancy Reagan in March 2001, was commissioned in July 2003 and arrived at its home port of San Diego The Port of San Diego is a self-supporting public benefit corporation established in 1963 by an act of the California State Legislature. The Port Act says that the policy of the State of California is to develop the harbors and ports of the State for multiple uses that benefit all  in July 2004.

2 teenagers admit stealing computer

Two Los Angeles teenagers pleaded guilty Tuesday to stealing a computer belonging to Robert Blake's attorney that contained vital information in the actor's murder case.

Michael Washington Jr., 19, pleaded guilty to two counts of residential burglary and was immediately sentenced to two years in prison by Superior Court Judge William N. Sterling.

Koi Burton, 18, pleaded guilty to a residential burglary charge. He was scheduled to be sentenced May 23 after his attorney requested a delay. He faces a maximum of four years in prison, prosecutors said.

M. Gerald Schwartzbach's laptop computer was stolen Dec. 1 at the apartment where the attorney was staying while preparing for Blake's trial on charges of murdering his wife.

No contest plea entered by ex-cop

A former Glendale police officer pleaded no contest Tuesday to fraudulently bidding on items he offered for sale on eBay, prosecutors said.

Sean McCarthy Frank, 33, offered Oakley sunglasses and other items for sale on eBay, said Deputy District Attorney Jeffrey McGrath with the High Tech Unit.

He was accused of setting up phony user IDs and bogus bidder names to bid on his own items - a practice known as ``shill shill   Slang
