Runaway vehicle leaves 3 injured

GLENDALE - A car driven by a 30-year-old woman who said she accidentally pushed the accelerator instead of the brake plowed through the front window of a Glendale bakery Monday, injuring three people, police said.

 Bakery at 916 E. Colorado St., said Sgt. Tom Lorenz of the Glendale Police Department.

A 40-year-old customer was the most seriously injured of the three. She was pushed into a glass counter inside the bakery, Lorenz said. An employee and a 13-year-old girl were also hurt, he said, but none of the injuries was believed to be life-threatening. The incident is under investigation, he said.

Bomb hoax letter results in arrest

A man has been arrested for allegedly sending a hoax letter threatening to blow up several government buildings in downtown Los Angeles Downtown Los Angeles is the central business district of Los Angeles, California, located close to the geographic center of the metropolitan area. Federal authorities said employees of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is the largest investigative arm of the United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and is responsible for identifying and dismantling vulnerabilities regarding the nation's border, economic, transportation and infrastructure  received a letter this month with a threat to blow up the Federal Building - where regional ICE offices are located - as well as the nearby Criminal Courts Building. The computer-generated letter also contained a threat to blow up the Men's Central Jail, according to the FBI.

Man questioned in fatal shooting

 in connection with a weekend shooting outside a topless club in Sun Valley that left a man dead, police said.

The unidentified man was being questioned at the Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  Police Department's North Hollywood Division late Monday, but his identity was not released.

Francisco Javier Herrera Javier Herrera (born April 9, 1985 in Caracas, Venezuela) is a Major League Baseball player, currently on the Oakland Athletics' 40-man roster. Herrera plays outfielder and is considered a highly touted prospect in the A's organization. , 29, of Panorama City was killed at 4 a.m. Sunday during an argument at a topless nightclub in the 11300 block of Penrose Street. Members of one group opened fire on the other, and Herrera was picked up by his friends and driven to a local hospital, where he died.

Small quake hits Castaic Lake area

CASTAIC - A small earthquake hit about seven miles south of Castaic Lake on Monday, but no damage or injuries were reported, officials said.

The magnitude-3.5 quake struck at 12:23 p.m. There were no reports of damage or injuries, Los Angeles County Deputy Mark Wood said.
