Eugene to host bulb sale at OSU (Open Source UNIX) Refers to the Unix variants that are maintained as open source, which were primarily BSD Unix and Linux until Sun made its Solaris operating system open source in 2005.  Exension Service

The Lane County Master Gardener's annual bulb sale will be held Saturday in Eugene.

The sale will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Oregon State University Oregon State University, at Corvallis; land-grant and state supported; coeducational; chartered 1858 as Corvallis College, opened 1865. In 1868 it was designated Oregon's land-grant agricultural college and was taken over completely by the state in 1885.  Extension Service front porch and auditorium, 950 W. 13th Ave.

This year's sale will feature a larger selection of spring flowering bulbs from Wooden Shoe Tulip Company, and garlic and shallots from Territorial Seeds.

There will be bulb and fall gardening talks and workshops in the auditorium throughout the day, along with a used book sale, and door prizes will be awarded.

Master gardeners will use the proceeds from the sale for gardener and public education.

Free hourly workshops will be:

9:30 a.m. - Bonsai Basics

10:30 a.m. - Container Planting with Bulbs, A Hands-on Workshop (bulb purchase required)

1 p.m. - The Stinking stinking

 plans open house on I-5 bridge work

COTTAGE GROVE Cottage Grove, village (1990 pop. 22,935), Washington co., SE Minn., near the St. Croix River; inc. 1965. There is farming (cattle, sheep, corn, and soybeans) and manufacturing (chemicals and machinery).  - Residents are invited to an open house Wednesday to review upcoming bridge work on Interstate 5 in the Cottage Grove area.

The open house, to be hosted by the Oregon Department of Transportation, runs from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Cottage Grove Community Center, 700 Gibbs Ave. Residents can speak with ODOT staff about the project and review plans, but no formal presentation is scheduled.

Award raised for tips leading to murder arrest

SEATTLE - Relatives, friends and hiking groups have given enough money to raise the reward for tips leading to the arrest of whoever killed two Seattle women on a popular hiking trail by $20,000 this week, to $26,000.
