Gordon Harold Smith (born May 25, 1952) is Oregon's junior United States Senator, currently serving his second term. He is a member of the Republican Party.
 will head a hearing in Eugene on Wednesday on renewable energy Renewable energy utilizes natural resources such as sunlight, wind, tides and geothermal heat, which are naturally replenished. Renewable energy technologies range from solar power, wind power, and hydroelectricity to biomass and biofuels for transportation. .

The Oregon Republican will lead a Senate Commerce Committee field hearing exploring the effects of renewable energy on the state's economy, his press office announced on Monday.

The event will begin at 9:30 a.m. in Room 282 of the Lillis Business Complex The Lillis Business Complex (LCB) is a building on the University of Oregon campus in Eugene, Oregon. It is home to the Charles H. Lundquist College of Business, and comprises the new main building (called Lillis Hall  at the University of Oregon The University of Oregon is a public university located in Eugene, Oregon. The university was founded in 1876, graduating its first class two years later. The University of Oregon is one of 60 members of the Association of American Universities. . The building is at the corner of East 13th Avenue and Kincaid Street.
