Lane County Public Health's Family Planning Program is moving from the downtown Eugene Public Health Annex to the county's RiverStone Community Health Center in Springfield.

Services will start July 5 at RiverStone, 1640 G St. Lane County Family Planning may still be reached at 682-4361; people can call RiverStone at 682-3550.

Rubicon Society to hear Oakridge police chief

The Rubicon Society will meet at noon Thursday to continue its public safety series with a talk by Oakridge police Chief Louis Gomez on "Public Safety in a Small Town."

The gathering will take place at the Pearl Street Ice Cream Parlor Ice cream parlors are places that sell ice cream and frozen yogurt to consumers. Public library names two branch managers

The Eugene Public Library has named new managers at both branch locations. Darren Nelson was selected as the Sheldon branch manager. He previously served as the Bethel branch manager. Angela Bray is the new Bethel branch manager. She comes to Eugene from the Corvallis-Benton County Public Library.

War is topic for Eugene City Club speakers

The City Club of Eugene on Friday will present three speakers discussing `War: Is it Ever Worth it? A Patriotic Question.'

The speakers will be Dr. Martin Jones from Beyond War, Dennis Hoerner of Wellsprings Friends School, and Iana Matthews-Harris of the Wayne Morse Wayne Lyman Morse (October 20, 1900 – July 22, 1974) was a United States Senator from Oregon from 1945 until 1969. In 1953, he made a filibuster for 22 hours and 26 minutes protesting the Tidelands Oil legislation, which at the time was the longest one-person filibuster in  Youth Program.

Commissioners to take comment on tax proposal

The Lane County commissioners will take public testimony on a public safety funding charter amendment limit and an income tax ordinance at 6:30 tonight in Harris Hall, 125 E. Eighth Ave.

The board is considering a charter amendment for the November general election ballot, dedicating a potential income tax to fund public safety and capping the amount at 1.5 percent of net taxable income Under the federal tax law, gross income reduced by adjustments and allowable deductions.
