Program offers classes on police operations The Lane County Sheriff's Office will offer a free 31-hour Citizens Corrections Academy for anyone who wants a close-up look at the operations in the county's jail, the Forest Work Camp and the work release center. The three-hour classes will take place on nine evenings from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. and one Saturday beginning Oct. 9 and ending Dec. 4. Enrollment is limited to 15 people. Participants are encouraged to attend all sessions. The course covers such things as training for sheriff's employees, communications styles, offender offender n. an accused defendant in a criminal case or one convicted of a crime.
