Space available in Veneta summer park program

VENETA - Slots are still available in the city-sponsored "Play in the Park" summer recreation program.

The program was launched this summer to provide adult-supervised arts and crafts, games and sports to keep area children active and entertained while the city swimming pool is being upgraded.

Programs run from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

The cost is $15 per week for Veneta residents and $25 per week for children living outside the city limits. For information on registration and scholarships, contact the city at 935-2191, at www.ci.veneta.or.us or stop by Veneta City Park, 25192 E. Broadway.

Redevelopment plans

to be on display downtown

The redevelopment options for West Broadway downtown will be on display at this week's Friday night art walk, with a public workshop to follow on Saturday.

Images of the plans will be on display at the Broadway and Willamette plaza from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. The West Broadway Committee and development teams will be on hand to hear feedback.

A public workshop where people will have an opportunity to share their ideas is scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon at the Atrium Building, 99 W. 10th Ave.

Review of book on CIA

The topic of Friday's Pacifica Forum is "CIA: Legacy of Ashes," a critique of Chalmers Johnson's review of Tim Weiner's recent book on the CIA.

The free forum is at 4 p.m. in 121 of McKenzie Hall at the University of Oregon campus at 11th Avenue and Kincaid Street.

Oregon Connections to hold information session

Oregon Connections Academy will hold an information session for family interested in learning more about this program at 11 a.m. Friday at Lane Community College.

Traveling spay and neuter clinic to offer cat services

VENETA - The Neuter Scooter, a traveling spay and neuter clinic for cats, will offer its veterinary services Friday.

Cost is $40 per cat, though discount vouchers for low-income residents are available at Veneta City Hall, 88184 Eighth St. Feral cats are half-price.
