Drain motorcyclist found dead in ditch by cyclists

YONCALLA - A 21-year-old motorcyclist from Drain was found dead in a ditch Friday along Hayhurst Road, according to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies responded after two bicyclists spotted the body and called for help about 11:30 a.m., the sheriff's office said in a news release. Deputies identified the body as Christopher Aaron Fulton.

A preliminary investigation indicated that Fulton was northbound when he failed to negotiate a right turn and traveled off the road, through some brush and small trees, coming to rest in the ditch, the release said.

Investigators said he probably had been wearing a helmet, but it came off during the crash.

The time of the accident has not been established, but Fulton's family said they saw him Thursday afternoon, the news release said.
