Free well water clinic

MONROE - The Oregon State University Oregon State University, at Corvallis; land-grant and state supported; coeducational; chartered 1858 as Corvallis College, opened 1865. In 1868 it was designated Oregon's land-grant agricultural college and was taken over completely by the state in 1885.  Well Water Program is holding a free well-water clinic Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Monroe High School commons.

At the event, an Extension water quality educator will offer nitrate screenings and answer questions about wells and septic systems.

For a nitrate screenings, people should bring a 1/2 -cup of untreated well water in a clean, water-tight container. Call (541) 737-6295.

Community forum on

Endangered Species Act The federal Endangered Species Act of 1973 (ESA) (16 U.S.C.A. §§ 1531 et seq.) was enacted to protect animal and plant species from extinction by preserving the ecosystems in which they survive and by providing programs for their conservation.  

Religious leaders from Lane County will hold a community forum on the Endangered Species Act from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church First United Methodist Church is a common name for the first United Methodist church established in a particular locality. The agenda includes an overview of the act and a panel discussion with representatives from commercial fishing, agriculture and the faith community.

Alzheimer's Association meeting on Wednesday

SPRINGFIELD - The topic of the Alzheimer's Association on Wednesday will be "My mother had Alzheimer's. What are my chances?"

Parkinson's patients, care providers, families gather

NEWPORT - Parkinson's Resource of Oregon will host a conference for patients, families and health care providers SundayApril 30 at the Best Western Agate Beach Inn.

Eugene residents on Tuesday can talk to Mayor Kitty Piercy in a south Eugene supermarket. She will be at the Albertsons at 1675 W. 18th Ave., starting at 5 p.m.

The mayor has the one-on-one meetings nearly every month in different supermarkets throughout the city.
