Donations are needed

for `Senior Holiday Dinner'

Donations are sought for the annual "Senior Holiday Dinner," which serves senior citizens and starts at 1 p.m. on Christmas Christmas [Christ's Mass], in the Christian calendar, feast of the nativity of Jesus, celebrated in Roman Catholic and Protestant Churches on Dec. 25. The dinner gives senior citizens an opportunity to socialize so·cial·ize  
v. so·cial·ized, so·cial·iz·ing, so·cial·iz·es

1. To place under government or group ownership or control.

2. To make fit for companionship with others; make sociable.
 with friends and peers during the holidays. The holiday dinner is coordinated by the Lane County Human Services Commission on behalf of the Board of Commissioners.

Local businesses and community members who would like to make contributions to the event can mail them directly to the Lane County Human Services Commission, marked "Senior Holiday Dinner," at 125 E. Eighth Ave., Eugene, OR 97401.

The event, which is open to anyone age 62 or older, includes a full turkey dinner, entertainment, dancing and door prizes, for $5 per person.

Tickets should be purchased in advance at the Campbell Senior Adult Center (682-5318) or the Willamalane Adult Activity Center (736-4444). For more information, call 515-9600.
