Gas station employee beaten by man with gun

A gas station attendant was severely beaten by a man with a gun early Monday morning south of Glenwood, the Lane County Sheriff's Office said.

At 4:46 a.m., deputies responded to the Exxon station at 86742 McVay Hwy., for a call about an armed robbery.

At least two men arrived at the gas station in a tan, older-model sedan Sedan (sədäN`), town (1990 pop. 22,407), Ardennes dept., NE France, on the Meuse River. A noted textile center since the 16th cent., Sedan also has metal and brewing industries. The town became part of French crown lands in 1642.  that was lower in the rear, investigators said. When the attendant approached to wait on them, the passenger, dressed in dark clothing and wearing a mask, stepped out of the car armed with a handgun, deputies said.

The passenger ordered the attendant to an area behind the gas station, where he struck him repeatedly on the head with an unknown object, knocking him unconscious, investigators said. The men allegedly took cigarettes and an undisclosed amount of cash.

When the attendant regained consciousness, the two men and the car were gone. The attendant, who was bleeding profusely pro·fuse

 from the head, was able to call 911 on a cell phone for help.

He was taken to a hospital, but his condition was not immediately known. The men's car later was found abandoned.

Home on Highway 58

damaged by blaze

PLEASANT HILL - A home on Highway 58 between the Pleasant Hill schools and shopping center shopping center, a concentration of retail, service, and entertainment enterprises designed to serve the surrounding region. The modern shopping center differs from its antecedents—bazaars and marketplaces—in that the shops are usually amalgamated into  here suffered severe damage in a blaze on fire; burning with a flame; filled with, giving, or reflecting light; excited or exasperated.

In addition to the Pleasant Hill Rural Fire Protection District, other local departments responded to the fire at 36232 Highway 58, which was called in at 9:11 p.m. and tied up traffic on the highway for much of the night. It was unclear whether anyone was injured in the fire.

Meyer, who was majoring in journalism, is the second Oregon resident to die at Slaughterhouse Island this spring. Gina Zalunardo, 22, committed suicide after an argument with her boyfriend in May. An autopsy revealed that she had hanged herself.
