The park now includes a play structure, basketball court and hard-surfaced paths. Neighborhood parks Neighborhood parks, which generally range in size up to 30 acres, serve as a social and recreational focal points for neighborhoods and are the basic units of a park system. Many include a playground. typically do not have restrooms, off-street parking, organized sports, skate parks, dog off-leash areas or other facilities that would attract visitors from a greater distance than the park's service area, about a half mile. AARP AARP, a nonprofit, nonpartisan national organization dedicated to "enriching the experience of aging"; membership is open to people age 50 or older. Founded in 1958 by Ethel Percy Andrus as American Association of Retired Persons, AARP now has over 30 million schedules refresher classes for older drivers The AARP is offering refresher courses designed for drivers age 50 or older. Docks to be repaired at Dexter Lake LOWELL - A number of docks on Dexter Lake are going to be taken out of commission after the Memorial Day weekend while repairs are done on them. The work won't start until Tuesday, said Kees Ruurs of the Oregon State Parks department. The docks adjacent to the boat landings at the Dexter, Lowell and Winberry recreation areas will be taken out for work. The boat ramps will remain open. Ruurs said the work will take less than two weeks, and the docks should be back in the water for the weekend of June 11-12.
