State energy official

will address City Club

Michael Grainey, director of the Oregon Department of Energy, will talk to the City Club of Eugene on Friday about energy needs, proposed legislation dealing with energy plant siting, related congressional action and energy alternatives.

The meeting, which begins at 11:50 a.m. at the Hilton Eugene, is open to the public. Admission is $3.

A follow-up discussion will take place at 5:05 p.m. Tuesday at Cafe Paradiso, Broadway and Olive Street in downtown Eugene.

Vets offer presentation

on the mental toll of war

A local veterans organization will offer a video and presentation on the psychological effects of war Thursday at Roaring Rapids Pizza.

Following the video, Eugene Vet Center counselor Cliff Kaylor will discuss post-traumatic stress disorder post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), mental disorder that follows an occurrence of extreme psychological stress, such as that encountered in war or resulting from violence, childhood abuse, sexual abuse, or serious accident.  symptoms of veterans who served in World War II, Korea, Vietnam, the first gulf war and current soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan.

The event begins at 6:30 p.m. at Roaring Rapids Pizza, 4006 Franklin Blvd. in Glenwood. For more information, contact Rick Grosscup at 343-8484.

Professor to talk about Supreme Court scenarios

Maury Holland, University of Oregon The University of Oregon is a public university located in Eugene, Oregon. The university was founded in 1876, graduating its first class two years later.
