Army seeks comment on plans for reservoir LOWELL - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is seeking public comment on Lane County's request to fill about an acre of Dexter reservoir. The project would enlarge an existing parking lot, improve pedestrian access to the old Lowell covered bridge, and install a floating fishing dock. It would place nearly an acre of graded rock riprap onto the bed of the reservoir, then cover the rock with embankment material and asphalt. Proposed mitigation steps include installing riparian vegetation along the bank. For a copy of the Corps' official notice of the project, write to Michele Hanson, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, 1600 Executive Parkway, Suite 210, Eugene, 97401-2156. The notice is also posted at www.nwp.usace.army.mil/op/g/notices/200400732.pdf. Written comment must reach the Corps by Thursday. For information, call 465-6878.
