That became clear September 11, 2001. The Department of Homeland Security is the george w. bush administration's plug for those gaps. grant to update and coordinate emergency communication systems in East Lane County. The grant will buy $36,000 in new equipment for Oakridge, with the remaining $80,000 to be divided among area fire response agencies. The new equipment will be compatible with emergency communication systems in the Eugene-Springfield area, which now operate on a different frequency.
