Community conflict planned as topic of lunch meeting

"When Goals Conflict" will be the topic of discussion at Friday's meeting of The City Club of Eugene. Caroline Frengle from FOOD for Lane County, Greg Rikhoff from the city of Eugene and Russ Brink from Downtown Eugene Inc. will discuss the process of resolving the conflict surrounding the Lane County Family Soup Kitchen.

The meeting will be at 11:50 a.m. at the Wild Duck Banquet Hall, 725 W. First Ave.

Forum to focus on generating local revenue sources

A community forum will be held Saturday to address the impact of funding cuts on social services and to identify solutions.

A work group to discuss generating local revenue sources will be facilitated by Elaine Walters, Steve Manela, Richie Weinman and Kitty Piercy.

Susan Ban, Kay Metzger, Carmen Urbina and Ken Grimsley will lead a group that will work on creating and presenting a message to the community about the impact of the reductions and the critical need for new revenue.

The forum will be held from 9 a.m. to noon in Room 104 of Building 19 on the Lane Community College campus, 4000 E. 30th Ave. Participants must RSVP by today by calling Lupe Jungswirth at 687-2667, or via e-mail at carmen@clal.com. Participants should indicate their preferred work group.

Habitat for Humanity schedules house dedication

Springfield-Eugene Habitat for Humanity, an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, will hold a celebration at 10 a.m. Saturday to dedicate a home at 6968 A St., Springfield.

The house is the 30th residence completed since the local group was founded in 1990.

Kiwanis Club sending care packages to military in Iraq

The Creswell Kiwanis is working with Les Schwab Tires in Cottage Grove to collect and deliver small gifts and letters to Oregon military members serving in the war in Iraq.

Letters may be addressed to "Oregonians" serving with U.S. coalition forces in the Middle East.

Items can be dropped off or purchased at Ray's Food Place in Creswell.

Les Schwab has agreed to deliver them to an ROTC unit at Oregon State University for shipment.
