Peck was arrested late Saturday in connection with robberies earlier that night at Amazon Market at 1815 W. 11th Ave. and a Shell gas station at Sixth Avenue and Grant Street. REGION Man dies in single-car wreck near Oakland OAKLAND - A 41-year-old man was killed early Tuesday when he was ejected from his car after it skidded off Old Highway 99 North, Douglas County sheriff's officials said. Billy Buchanan Duck Jr. was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which police said occurred at 2 a.m. Tuesday. Investigators said they believe Duck was headed north on the road when he drifted onto the east shoulder and lost control of his 1991 Ford Taurus. The car then skidded back across the road and into a ditch, where it rolled and crashed through a gate. Duck was thrown from the vehicle, police said. A preliminary investigation suggests that Duck may have been speeding and may not have been wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash, police said. - From Register-Guard and news service reports |
