Northwest Christian

receives $1 million gift

An anonymous donor has given $1 million to Northwest Christian College Northwest Christian College is a private, liberal arts college located in Eugene, Oregon and is affiliated with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and the Independent Christian Churches/Churches of Christ.  for remodeling remodeling /re·mod·el·ing/ (re-mod´el-ing) reorganization or renovation of an old structure.

The gift will help the Eugene college finish work on the Pomajevich Faculty Building at the corner of East 11th Avenue and Alder alder (ôl`dər), name for deciduous trees and shrubs of the genus Alnus of the family Betulaceae (birch family), widely distributed, especially in mountainous and moist areas of the north temperate zone and in the Andes.  Street. Half of the new donation will go to the Pomajevich project and the other half will be used for a yet-to-be-determined project. Work on the faculty building is expected to be complete by February.

Once the building is complete, the college plans to demolish its existing faculty building, the Harmon House, a block to the east. That building is too dilapidated for repair, officials said.

The fire originated in the kitchen/dining room area of the 1,744-square-foot house. The current owners purchased it in 2003 for $226,000, records show. No one was home at the time of the fire.
