Police search for man

who groped girl in hotel

A man sneaked into a hotel room and groped a sleeping teenage girl before leaving through a window. He also stole some cash from an adjacent room, Eugene police said.

Detectives have turned to the public to help identify the culprit, a white man in his 30s who wore a black hooded sweatshirt and sweatpants.

The two rooms at LaQuinta Inn, 155 Day Island Road, were occupied by a woman and six teenage girls who were visiting Eugene to shop and see friends. They called police at 4:15 a.m. Monday to report the incident. The man fled the room when the girl awoke and screamed.

Police asked anyone with information to call Detective Jeff Roth at 682-5569.
