A 50-year-old Eugene man lost his medical marijuana to a burglar BURGLAR. One who commits a burglary. (q. v.)  Friday afternoon.

While he was away from his home in the 1800 block of Coventry Way The Coventry Way is a 40 mile (64 km) long distance footpath in central England that starts and finishes in Meriden. It forms a circular route around the city of Coventry covering countryside in both the West Midlands and Warwickshire. , a young man broke into his house and grabbed about a pound of freshly harvested marijuana, police said.

But before the burglar left the house, a woman friend of the resident interrupted the burglary. The burglar tussled with the woman before running away. He later broke into another house and ran through other neighbor's yards, police said.

Police arrested Trevor Godin, 19, and two other suspects who police say were waiting nearby in a car.

Police charged Godin with two counts of burglary, one count of robbery, one count of criminal trespass trespass, in law, any physical injury to the person or to property. In English common law the action of trespass first developed (13th cent.) to afford a remedy for injuries to property.  and possession of marijuana.

Police took a small amount of the marijuana as evidence and returned most to the resident with the medical marijuana card, said acting Sgt. Kevin McCormick. Officers, who rarely find themselves in a position of giving back marijuana, said they felt strange handing it over.

"They said, `This is weird,' '' McCormick said. "I said, `This feels wrong.' "
