Community responds

by replacing stolen cash

Someone broke into the bar at 28th and Main streets early Monday and made off with the cash kept in an aquarium inside the bar. The money was meant for 24-year-old Ashleigh Hall, who was raised in the Eugene-Springfield area and now lives in Boise. Human rights award nominations encouraged

As part of the annual celebration for International Human Rights Day, Eugene residents are invited to nominate people who, in their work or personal lives, represent human rights principles.

To submit a nomination, call Eugene's Human Rights office, 682-5177, by 5 p.m. Monday. Provide the person's name, address, telephone number, e-mail address See Internet address.

 and why they should be honored as a "Hometown Hero." Children and youth are encouraged to submit nominations, especially of people who may not be well-known, such as parents or teachers.

People selected for the award will be recognized on Dec. 11, at a celebration of the 56th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights Universal Declaration of Human Rights
