Suspect in wife's slaying won't waive extradition extradition (ĕkstrədĭsh`ən), delivery of a person, suspected or convicted of a crime, by the state where he has taken refuge to the state that asserts jurisdiction over him.

In brief hearing Thursday at the Lane County Jail, fugitive Gordon Douglas Weaver declined to waive extradition to Minnesota to face charges of first-degree murder.

Standing in the jail's courtroom, wearing an orange jumpsuit, Weaver, 47, said nothing as his court-appointed lawyer took the legal steps to challenge Minnesota's arrest warrant.

Lane County Circuit Judge Cynthia Carlson allowed Minnesota authorities until June 18 to produce legal documentation needed to authorize them to remove Weaver from Oregon to face charges in Minnesota.

Weaver is accused of killing his wife five years ago by setting her on fire in their suburban home near St. Paul St. Paul
