Hip-hop event will raise

funds for Womenspace

More than 60 hip-hop artists will gather today at the McDonald Theatre to raise money for Womenspace.

The second annual variety show, "Down 4 It," includes dancers, DJs and breakdancers. The performers are volunteering their talents to benefit the agency, which provides crisis services, a drop-in advocacy center, legal advocacy, case management and more to women and children dealing with domestic violence.

Dance Northwest's Kim Ely and Anita Sanford organized the event. "Dance can change people's lives and help to turn them onto positive paths," Sanford, founder of Dance Northwest, says in a news release.

Tickets for the 8 p.m. event are $12 at the door. The McDonald is at 1010 Willamette St.
