On Thursday, Cinemark 17 will take part in a one-day-only showing at 200 theaters of a documentary based on footage shot by 50 fans at a Beastie Boys concert.

The project began when the band handed out 50 cameras to audience members at its sold-out performance at Madison Square Garden Coordinates:

 in October 2004. Thursday's show will include a premiere of "A Day in the Life of Nathanial Hornblower," a 30-minute short created specifically for the nationwide showing.

The Bijou Art Cinemas, 492 E. 13th Ave., will play trance-electronic tracks set to psychedelic visuals at 11:30 p.m. today, Saturday and Sunday as part of its Late Nite Series.

Ashland film festival

coming on April 6-10

Tickets go on sale to the general public Wednesday for the fifth annual Ashland Independent Film Festival, to be held April 6-10 at downtown's Varsity Theatre and the Historic Ashland Armory and ScienceWorks Museum Scienceworks Museum can mean:
  • Scienceworks Museum (Melbourne), a children's museum in Australia
  • ScienceWorks Museum (Ashland), a children's museum in the United States

Only members of the Ashland Independent Film Festival may buy tickets online. All others must pay cash at the box office.

The festival will feature 82 films, including six Oscar nominated nom·i·nate

1. To propose by name as a candidate, especially for election.

General admission tickets are $9, $7 for festival members and seniors 62 and older, and $5 for students.
