Teachers protest pay-system mess

TV news anchor Mirthala Salinas Mirthala Salinas (born October 27, 1970) was an anchor and reporter for U.S. Spanish language television channel KVEA-TV in Los Angeles. In August of 2007, she was suspended from her job for two months due to a conflict of interest scandal as a result of sleeping with the Mayor of , who was suspended without pay for two months after her affair with Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa became public, returns to work Monday as a general assignment reporter in the Inland Empire.

Salinas has been reassigned from her old job as back-up news anchor for Spanish-language NBC-Telemundo (Channel 52), where she broadcast news of the mayor's separation from his wife while she was having an affair with him, the station said Monday.

In her new assignment, the Studio City resident will cover the communities of Riverside and San Bernardino, employees were told Monday.

Salinas, 35, was among four employees disciplined after a three-week investigation by Telemundo and its parent company NBC Universal.

LAUSD to hold resource fair

Los Angeles Unified will hold on Oct. 6 its fifth annual resource fair for families of children with disabilities. The fair will take place 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday Oct. 6 at 135th Street Elementary School, 801 West 135th St., Gardena.
