FBI releases photos of robber

Bank robbery is the crime of robbing a bank.
 suspect dubbed the "Highway 101 Bandit bandit: see brigandage. " in hopes that someone would recognize the unidentified man.

FBI fills new L.A. Intelligence job

The FBI named Eric Velez to head a recently created Los Angeles intelligence post, the agency announced Wednesday.

Charter schools' quality noted

The California Charter Schools Association announced Wednesday that it has certified 17 charter schools in the state -- including six at Los Angeles Unified -- for their commitment to high quality and accountability.

Two of the schools, Fenton Avenue Charter and Multicultural Learning Center, are located in Lake View Terrace and Canoga Park, respectively.

The association launched the quality program in May to validate charter schools that have demonstrated a commitment to quality standards established by the charter school movement.

To date, the association has certified 56 schools, with 10 in LAUSD LAUSD Los Angeles Unified School District (Los Angeles, CA) .

Autopsy today for body in taxi

An autopsy is scheduled to be conducted today on the body of a man found inside the trunk of a taxi that had been impounded for illegal parking, in a case being treated as a homicide, authorities said.

Police were called to a tow yard Tuesday at 2119 E. 25th St. when a foul smell was noted and blood began dripping from the trunk of a taxicab that had been found illegally parked in the 200 block of East 62nd Street in South Los Angeles South Los Angeles is the official name for a large geographic and cultural area lying to the southwest and southeast of downtown Los Angeles, California. The area was formerly called South Central Los Angeles, and is still sometimes called South Central.  last Thursday, police said.

The taxi had no company logo or any other corporate affiliation.

The body was in the advanced stages of decomposition and its identity was not immediately known.
