Duplex kitchen fire leads to $250,000 in damage

SPRINGFIELD - Residents of a duplex were left homeless early Sunday after a kitchen fire caused an estimated $250,000 in damage to the home.

No one was injured in the 2:56 a.m. fire, which also caught trees on fire and burned three cars, at 1267 Lorne Loop, police said. The residents were not at home when the fire started, and neighbors evacuated. At least one fire unit remained at the residence until 8:30 a.m.
