Man shot dead sitting in vehicle

PACOIMA -- A man who was sitting in his car was shot to death Monday when two men drove up, fired at him and sped off, authorities said.

The man was struck in the head around 11 a.m. while sitting in the 9910 block of Telfair Avenue, said LAPD 1. LAPD - Link Access Procedure on the D channel.

 Officer Mike Lopez.

The unidentified man died at the scene.

Lopez said the two Latino gunmen drove northbound from the scene and remained at large. Nothing indicated the shooting was gang-related, he said.

Car is caught under big rig

CITY OF INDUSTRY -- One person died Monday after a vehicle became wedged under a big rig on the westbound Pomona Freeway in the City of Industry.

California Highway Patrol got the report at 12:03 p.m. that a big rig with a vehicle jammed underneath it had slid down an embankment off the freeway just east of Fairway Drive, said Officer Patrick Kimball of the California Highway Patrol.

Man's cousin shoots him in leg

A man accidentally shot in his leg by a relative in South Los Angeles South Los Angeles is the official name for a large geographic and cultural area lying to the southwest and southeast of downtown Los Angeles, California. The shooting in a house at 216 W. 118th St. occurred about 5:45 p.m., and the wounded man, whose name police withheld, was reported to have stable vital signs, Los Angeles police Sgt. Randy Goens said.

The man, believed to be in his 30s, was accidentally shot by a cousin with a semiautomatic .38-caliber pistol, Goens said.

The cousin fled on foot before police arrived, he said.
