Bilingual event to share college information

Classes planned for

would-be homeowners

The Home Ownership Center at the Neighborhood Economic Development Corporation will offer a new series of weekly homeownership seminars for individuals and families interested in buying instead of renting their homes.

The sessions begin May 23, but participants must register no later than Friday.

The new Threshold Homeownership Program consists of 12 classes, each two hours long, that cover topics such as understanding the real estate process, qualifying for the best loan, handling credit problems, saving money on utility bills, managing finances and insurance choices.

Classes take place from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the center at 783 Grant St. in west Eugene. The per household registration fee of $65 includes unlimited one-on-one consultation with a home ownership counselor and a three-bureau credit report.

Greenhill Humane Society's board to hold meeting

The annual meeting of the Greenhill Humane Society's Board of Directors will be held 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the society, 88530 Green Hill Road.

Lecture to cover U.S.

intervention in Venezuela

On Tuesday Venezuelan-American attorney and author Eva Golinger will discuss her research on U.S. intervention in Venezuela, at 7 p.m. in Room 175 of the University of Oregon The University of Oregon is a public university located in Eugene, Oregon. The university was founded in 1876, graduating its first class two years later. The University of Oregon is one of 60 members of the Association of American Universities.  Law School, 15th Avenue and Agate Street.

Golinger has spent the last four years living in Venezuela, and will offer a distinctive perspective on U.S.-Venezuelan relations. She has written two books on the subject, "The Chavez Code" and "Bush vs. Chavez." For more information, call 485-8633 or e-mail ciscap@efn.org.

T'ai chi is a Chinese exercise system that uses slow, smooth body movements to achieve a state of relaxation of both body and mind.

errors on coins, bills

SPRINGFIELD - The Coil and Diggers Club of Lane County will meet Tuesday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Springfield Elks Lodge located at 1701 Centennial Blvd., Springfield.

Neil McElroy will be giving a presentation on minting errors on coins and printing errors on bills that make your pocket change and cash worth more than face value. There is a $2 fee. Norwegian independence

bone marrow drive

The University of Oregon will host a bone marrow drive on Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Fir Room of the EMU.
