-- Daily News Response Team sign-ups begin SIMI VALLEY -- The city's office of emergency services is accepting applications for its Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training program. The program was first offered following the Northridge Earthquake in 1994 and provides citizens with training in disaster preparedness, fire safety, disaster medical operations, search and rescue, disaster psychology and team leadership. Participants are required to attend seven classes with training offered by the Ventura County Fire Department Not to be confused with Ventura Fire Department.
