interviews Cignetti for offensive coordinator job

Former Fresno State and North Carolina offensive coordinator Frank Cignetti interviewed with UCLA coach Karl Dorrell about the Bruins' offensive coordinator position, sources said Wednesday.

Cignetti, who also was quarterbacks coach, was not retained by new Tar Heels coach Butch Davis.

Dorrell is trying to fill a void created when Jim Svoboda, who was UCLA's offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, was fired last week.

Under Cignetti, the Tar Heels ranked 99th in scoring offense (18ppg) and 101st in total offense (293 ypg), but he had better success at Fresno State.

The 2004 Bulldogs were fifth in the nation in scoring (40.2 ppg), and in 2005 the Bulldogs were seventh in scoring (37.8 ppg).
