pesticides, fertilizers

Lane County farmers can make a clean sweep of old pesticides, fertilizers and waste oil that have been stored for years.

Local utilities are willing to take the material for free.

Those who need assistance packaging the waste for disposal can call a firefighting official to come to their property.

Volunteers sought

to set up Iraq war display

Volunteers are needed to set up flags for the Iraq Body Count Exhibit on Sunday, beginning at 10 a.m. Volunteers will set up 120,000 white flags representing Iraqi dead and 3,000 red flags representing U.S. war dead.

Set-up will be at the Memorial Quad, between Lillis Hall and the Knight Library on the University of Oregon campus.

County Republican women to hold monthly meeting

Kaye Ridley, president of Republican Women Central Lane County, will discuss the new direction the group will take this year during the organization's meeting on Monday at the Hilton Eugene.
