Eastside district head named

The Eastside Union School District on Monday named Roberto Villa as its new superintendent.

The announcement ended a six-month search to replace ousted superintendent Greg Riccio.

Villa comes to the district from the Bay Area, where he was principal since 2000 at Baker Elementary School Baker Elementary School is an elementary school of the Huron Valley School District serving grades K-5. It is located in Milford, MI in Oakland County, MI. It is directly across from Muir Middle School. The current principal is Kathy Svoboda.  in the Mountain View School District, and was the principal and program master in Oakland's Unified School District A unified school district is a school district which includes both primary school (kindergarten through middle school or junior high) and high school (grades 9-12). In Illinois, these districts are called unit school districts.  before that.

``We believe that he is an outstanding educator and leader who will be a great match for our schools and our community,'' outgoing board President Janette Crawford said Tuesday.

Villa's hiring was approved unanimously by the five-member board, although no contractual agreement has been reached, board President Peggy Foster said.

Foster said the board expects to reach an agreement with Villa soon. He is expected to start his new job on Jan. 1.

``It will probably take several weeks before that gets ironed out,'' Foster said.

Epperson's three years of managerial experience in the Red Sox system includes managing Boston's advanced Class-A Wilmington, N.C., affiliate in the Carolina League The Carolina League is a minor league baseball affiliation which operates in the South Atlantic region of the United States. Before 2002, it was classified as a "High A" league, indicating its status as a Class A league with the highest level of competition within that  last season.

Also named to the JetHawks staff were pitching coach Bob Kipper Robert Wayne (Bob) Kipper (born July 8, 1964 in Aurora, Illinois) is a former middle-relief pitcher in Major League Baseball who played from 1985 through 1992 for the California Angels (1985), Pittsburgh Pirates (1985-1991) and Minnesota Twins (1992). , hitting coach Dave Joppie and trainer Jon Jochim.

Kipper was the California Angels first-round draft pick in 1982. His professional career includes eight years in the major leagues.
