Shooting leaves 1 dead, 1 injured

NORTH HILLS -- One man was killed and a teenager was wounded when they were shot Sunday as they drove away from a house party, police said Monday.

David Ceja, 20, was killed about 12:30 a.m. Sunday after attending a party in the 8700 block of Aqueduct aqueduct (ăk`wədŭkt) [Lat.,=conveyor of water], channel or trough built to convey water, chiefly for providing a densely populated region with a supply of freshwater.  Avenue. An unidentified 17-year-old boy was listed in critical but stable condition.

Three other people riding in the car escaped injury. The shooting does not appear to be gang-related, police said.

Brother accused in sibling's death

EAGLE ROCK -- A 37-year-old man was choked by his brother after a scuffle escalated to homicide, authorities said Monday.

Randy Rogers died about 8:40 p.m. Friday at a home in the 4800 block of Wiota Street. Officers responding to the scene found Rogers dead in the driveway.

Detectives later learned that Rogers had struggled with his brother, Darren Rogers, 40. The elder Rogers is accused of choking his brother and is being held in jail on $1 million bail.

Woman dies in 3-car collision

BURBANK -- A 34-year-old Glendale woman was killed Sunday when her speeding car collided with two vehicles, then crashed into a building, police said Monday.

The crash occurred about 1 a.m. Sunday, when a car driven by the unidentified woman collided with another vehicle at Orange Grove Avenue and Glenoaks Boulevard, police said.

 traffic and collided with a sport utility vehicle. It then crashed into a streetlight, a fire hydrant and a building before coming to rest on its roof at Glenoaks and Palm Avenue, police said.

 line set for Reseda

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority will launch a new Metro Rapid Metro Rapid is a bus rapid transit system in Los Angeles County, California, operated by the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority. The Rapid program attempts to speed up commuter travel time on Los Angeles' county streets.  bus line Dec. 18 that will carry passengers along Reseda Boulevard between Northridge and Tarzana, officials said Monday.
