UO museum to close

for maintenance

The University of Oregon The University of Oregon is a public university located in Eugene, Oregon. The university was founded in 1876, graduating its first class two years later. The University of Oregon is one of 60 members of the Association of American Universities.  Museum of Natural and Cultural history will be closed Wednesday for maintenance but will reopen re·o·pen

1. To open or be opened again: Officials reopened the airport after the snow was cleared. Schools reopen in September.

The museum, at 1680 E. 15th Ave., is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays, except major holidays. The phone number is 346-3024.

Training session teaches

nonviolent communication Nonviolent communication (NVC) is a process developed by Marshall Rosenberg and others which people use to communicate with greater compassion and clarity. It focuses on two things: empathy — listening with deep compassion, and honest self-expression  

A training session in nonviolent communication will be held Wednesday in Springfield.

The session will be from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at St. Paul St. Paul

to discuss Dorena Dam

The Coast Fork Willamette Watershed Council will host a public meeting Wednesday to discuss a plan from Symbiotics Energy to retrofit ret·ro·fit

The meeting will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Dorena Grange, 34360 Row River Road. Erik Steimle of the Ecosystem Research Institute will discuss the natural resource issues that relate to the proposal. Those interested are invited to bring questions and comments.

Workshop centers on health care reform

A community meeting and workshop on health care reform will be held from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Eugene Water & Electric Board offices at 500 E. Fourth Ave.

The Archimedes Movement, a statewide project of the Foundation for Medical Excellence, plans to present a proposal to the 2007 Legislature calling for access to health-improving services for all Oregonians.

Members of the group will discuss opportunities for individual participation in the project, such as letter-writing and lobbying.

Reception to celebrate

law enforcement exhibit

The Lane County Historical Museum will hold a preclosing reception for its long-term law enforcement exhibit Thursday at the museum.

The reception begins at 5:30 p.m. in the museum at 740 W. 13th Ave. in Eugene. The exhibit will continue through Oct. 15.

Cans Film Festival ready

to take in - cans

You can watch a movie and help fight hunger Fight Hunger is a global initiative, based in Rome, Italy [1], calling for the end of child hunger by 2015 [2]. It is organised by the World Food Programme and its partners, and comprises different activities throughout the year.  - for a donation of three cans of food - at the 26th annual Cans Film Festival on Thursday.

People who donate three or more nonperishable food items at Regal Cinemas, across from Valley River Center Valley River Center is a shopping mall located in Eugene, Oregon. As the largest shopping center south of Portland and north of San Francisco, this mall comprises over 130 local and national stores and restaurants. , will receive free admission to a movie and a free small box of popcorn.

The offer is good for all shows except "The Guardian." All food donations benefit FOOD for Lane County. For more information, call 343-2822.
