`Petting zoo' set with instruments

VALENCIA -- All ages can have fun learning about orchestral instruments at the Santa Clarita Santa Clarita, city (1990 pop. 110,642), Los Angeles co., S Calif., suburb 30 mi (48 km) NW of downtown Los Angeles, on the Santa Clara River; inc. 1987. Situated in the Santa Clara valley and nearby canyons, Santa Clarita includes the former towns of Canyon Country,  Symphony's ``Instrument Petting Zoo'' from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Borders Books & Music, 24445 Town Center Drive, Valencia. Wealth of senior trips available

NEWHALL -- The Santa Clarita Valley The Santa Clarita Valley is the valley of the Santa Clara River in Southern California. It stretches through Los Angeles County and Ventura County. Its main population center is the city of Santa Clarita. The valley was part of the 48,612-acre (19,672.  Senior Center Trips & Tours Department is offering the following trips in September: A day trip to Pechanga Casino in Temecula will leave at 8 a.m. and return about 6:30 p.m. Sept. 6 at a cost of $20. A visit to Solvang's Danish Days will leave at 8 a.m. and return about 7:30 p.m. Sept. 16. The cost of $42 includes deluxe coach, continental breakfast on board and an on-board movie.

A trip to the Getty Villa The Getty Villa in Pacific Palisades, USA, is part of the J. Paul Getty Museum. The Getty Villa is an educational center and museum dedicated to the study of the arts and cultures of ancient Greece, Rome and Etruria.  Malibu, including lunch at Gladstone's, will leave at 10:30 a.m. and return about 5 p.m. Sept. 21 for $60. A three-day, two-night trip to the Golden Nugget Casinos:
  • Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada
  • Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino in Laughlin, Nevada

Two open houses on tap at temple

NEWHALL -- Two open house events will be held in September at Temple Beth Ami, 23023 Hilse Lane, Newhall. Extension classes open at Canyon

VALENCIA -- With fall registration well under way, a number of free classes are available through the College of the Canyons College of the Canyons is one of the fastest-growing community colleges in the state. According to the National Junior College Research Association, College of the Canyons consistently ranks in the top 50 community colleges in the nation.  community extension program. Film Appreciation, Writing Your Personal History, and Lifelong Learning Through Global Events are just some of the classes available. While the classes are tuition-free, students might need to purchase textbooks or materials.
