The association needs to find new officials because many of its veterans are getting older and beginning to retire, said Cravonne Barrett, the organization's chairman of recruitment. Men and women age 18 and older can apply. Officials officiate in sports ranging from football, basketball and baseball to track and field, soccer, swimming and tennis. Poetry sought for balloon festival PALMDALE -- Poetry submissions are being sought for a poetry reading planned Sept. 4 during the 2006 Antelope Valley Sky Parade Balloon and Wine Festival. Submissions are limited to three per person and and no longer then 28 lines. Artist should be prepared to read their own poetry or designate a reader to stand in their place.
