Illegal aliens may get more scrutiny

Robbery suspect nabbed in chase

WOODLAND HILLS -- A man suspected of being a robber and purse-snatcher led police on a wild pursuit through the west San Fernando Valley San Fernando Valley

Police say Ebrahim Kalapehe, 35, of Los Angeles, had been suspected of the crimes, said Capt. John Sherman of the LAPD's West Valley division. Police pursued the white Ford Taurus, also believed to be stolen, until Kalapehe surrendered at De Soto Avenue and Erwin Street.

Body discovered in foothill region

GLENDALE -- Police said they found a body Thursday afternoon in the Glendale foothills.

The body was recovered at about 5 p.m. after construction workers reported seeing the corpse near the 1800 block of Maginn Drive.

It was not immediately known if the body was that of an elderly man who was reported missing a week ago, according to KABC KABC Kaufman Assessment Battery for Children  (Channel 7).

Federal regulators have reached a $43,000 settlement with Excello Plating and its president for investigative costs stemming from alleged hazardous discharge from its Los Angeles plant.

The deal between the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), independent agency of the U.S. government, with headquarters in Washington, D.C. It was established in 1970 to reduce and control air and water pollution, noise pollution, and radiation and to ensure the safe handling and , the metal plating firm and its president, Glen Harleman, is open for public comment until Aug. 24, authorities said Thursday.

The company, located at 4057 Goodwin Ave. near the Glendale border, is one of the parties held responsible for groundwater pollution in the federal San Fernando-Glendale Superfund site.
