Meeting is set on water quality

WEST HILLS -- The Department of Toxic Substances Control will hold a public meeting tonight in West Hills to discuss the latest results of soil and groundwater testing for perchlorate perchlorate: see chlorate.  at the planned Sterling Homes site.

 found very high levels of the rocket fuel ingredient perhchlorate on the property last year. However, recent tests performed after heavy rain this winter found no perchlorate on the site, located at Roscoe Boulevard and Valley Circle.

The DTSC will discuss the findings and future testing at the meeting, which begins at 7 p.m. tonight at DeVry University, 22801 Roscoe Blvd. in West Hills.

2 brothers shot at Panorama Mall

PANORAMA CITY -- Two brothers were shot Monday after an argument in the parking lot of Panorama Mall, police said.

The shooting occurred in the 8500 block of Van Nuys Boulevard in front of the Wal-Mart store at around 4:30 p.m. Police said two male Latinos were arguing when one of them pulled a gun and shot the other in the hand.

The victim ran to a car driven by his brother. The two men then drove past the suspect, who shot at the driver, hitting him in the leg.

The men drove to a local hospital. Their injuries are not life-threatening.

Police seeking clues in stabbing
