Victims sought in molest case

PACOIMA -- A 50-year-old registered sex offender was arrested Monday and police are seeking the public's help in locating other possible victims.

Joseph Anthony Malander of Pacoima was taken into custody after an investigation into allegations that he molested two stepsons, then 6 and 8 years old, in the family's Pacoima home between 1985 and 1991. He is being held in lieu of $5 million bail.

In 1997 and again in 2003, Malander was convicted of child annoying. Detectives believe he may also be responsible for unreported child molestations.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Robert Cervantes at the LAPD's Sexually Exploited Child Unit at (213) 485-2883.
