Man loses car, clothes to robbers

MONTCLAIR -- Robbers stole the car, cell phone, clothes and shoes of a motorist they accosted ac·cost

1 dead, 2 injured in party shooting

EAGLE ROCK -- Three people were arrested Friday after gunmen killed a man and wounded two others at a party in the 1500 block of Waldran Avenue late Friday, according to Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  police.

Police said the incident occurred about 9:50 p.m. One victim was fatally shot, and another was shot in the head and was listed in critical condition. A third victim was shot in the arm.

Names of the victims were not immediately released.

Driver arrested after crashing car

PACOIMA -- A man was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving after his vehicle ran three red lights and hit a tree and two vehicles, including a police car, officials said.

The driver ran away after the 10:30 p.m. Friday crash at Van Nuys Boulevard and Herrick Avenue, but officers eventually caught and arrested the suspect. His name was not released.

Prior to the crash, officers saw the motorist driving erratically, said Los Angeles police spokesperson Marjan Mobassser, ``making a number of traffic violations'' before eventually sideswiping a patrol car.

Gunman wounds 5 in Leimert Park

Five people were wounded when a gunman opened fire early Saturday on a group of people in Leimert Park, police said.

230,000 still owe property taxes

Notices are being mailed to 230,000 Los Angeles County taxpayers, informing them that their 2005-06 property taxes are delinquent and will default July 1, Treasurer and Tax Collector Mark Saladino said.

The second installment of 2005-06 property taxes was due April 10.

Downtown mural is painted over

A downtown Los Angeles Downtown Los Angeles is the central business district of Los Angeles, California, located close to the geographic center of the metropolitan area. The sprawling, multi-centered megacity is such that its downtown core is often considered just another district like Hollywood or  mural that took nearly a decade to create was painted over, apparently without warning.

It was not immediately clear who covered the ``Ed Ruscha Monument'' on Friday, but artist Kent Twitchell Kent Twitchell (born 1942, Lansing, Michigan) is an American muralist who is most active in Los Angeles. He is most famous for his larger-than-life photorealist mural portraits, often of celebrities and artists. , who created it to honor his fellow artist, said he was never notified.
