Activist to discuss cancer prevention policies

A breast cancer activist will visit Eugene on Monday to discuss growing evidence pointing to environmental causes of the disease and raise questions about feel-good pink-ribbon campaigns.

Barbara Brenner, a breast cancer survivor, and executive director of Breast Cancer Action, a San Francisco-based nonprofit, will discuss prevention policies with city staff at noon at the Eugene Public Library, and will give a "Behind the Pink Ribbon" talk at 7 p.m. on the University of Oregon campus The University of Oregon campus in Eugene, Oregon has around 80 buildings and facilities, including athletics sites such as Hayward Field, which is the site for the 2008 Olympic Track and Field Trials, and McArthur Court, and off-campus sites such as nearby Autzen Stadium and the , room 180, Prince Lucien Campbell Hall Campbell Hall can refer to:

Mother's Day breakfast serves as fundraiser

BLACHLY - The Triangle Grange will hold a Mother's Day breakfast on Sunday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Grange hall in Blachly.

The breakfast is a fundraiser to repair the Grange hall roof. There is no charge but donations will be accepted for the roof repair. The menu includes juice, coffee, eggs, sausage, ham, hash browns hash browns

to create ID profiles

An Eagle Scout candidate on Saturday will create identification profiles for children that will be used by Eugene police in the event of an emergency.

Cody Roberts of Eugene is inviting parents and guardians to bring their children to the Cal Young Middle School cafeteria from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., where he will create the profiles.

The profile includes fingerprints, a photograph, the child's Social Security number, date of birth, height, weight and eye color. Parents and legal guardians will be provided for the profiles. Spanish-speaking translators will be available.
