Rafael Nadal defeated Tommy Robredo 6-4, 6-4, 6-0 Sunday to win the Open Seat Godo title in Barcelona, Spain, topping Bjorn Borg's mark with his 47th straight victory on clay.

Nadal, who won his 12th consecutive final, earned praise from the 11-time Grand Slam champion.

"I congratulate Nadal," Borg said in a statement. "He's fun to watch and I hope he wins Wimbledon."

Guillermo Vilas holds the Open-era record with 53straight wins. Nadal deflected comparisons to Borg, a five-time Wimbledon winner, whom he called the greatest player of all time.

"It's nice that he thinks I'm good to watch," Nadal said. "I thank Borg for his kind words."

Nadal is looking forward to the French Open in late May.

"I've achieved my main objective here, and I've overtaken Borg's number of wins," Nadal said. "I guess I could try to go for Vilas' total in Rome. But I have my sights set on Roland Garros."

HORSE RACING: A day after a dozen horses put in workouts for the Kentucky Derby, there wasn't much activity at Churchill Downs on a dreary and rainy morning.

Among the Derby contenders out for a mile jog before Saturday's Derby were trainer Todd Pletcher's Bluegrass Cat, Keyed Entry and Sunriver.

While Bluegrass Cat and Keyed Entry are set for the 1 -mile Derby, the same can't be said for Sunriver, who might be Pletcher's best 3-year-old coming into the race.

The field is limited to 20 starters, and if more are entered at Wednesday's post-position draw the deciding factor is graded stakes earnings.

Sunriver, who finished third behind Barbaro and Sharp Humor in the Florida Derby, ranks 22nd on the list, and will need two horses to drop out for a chance to run for the roses.
