Attorneys: No DNA match

DNA testing failed to connect any members of the Duke University men's lacrosse team to the alleged rape of a stripper, attorneys for the athletes said Monday in Durham, N.C..

Citing DNA test results delivered by the state crime lab to police and prosecutors a few hours earlier, the attorneys said the test results prove their clients did not sexually assault and beat a stripper hired to perform at a March 13 team party. No charges have been filed in the case.

"No DNA material from any young man was present on the body of this complaining woman," said defense attorney Wade Smith.

The alleged victim, a 27-year-old student at a nearby college, told police she and another woman were hired to dance at the party. The woman told police that three men at the party dragged her into a bathroom, choked her, raped her and sodomized her.

FOOTBALL: Former USC quarterback Matt Leinart and offensive tackle Winston Justice fired agent Leigh Steinberg over the weekend, according to sources. No reason was given for Leinart's decision, although he is believed to favor agent om Condon. Justice is expected to sign with agent Gary Uberstine.

Ricky Williams and his lawyer met Monday with NFL counsel Jeff Pash, seeking to have the league overturn a positive drug test that could cost him the entire 2006 season.

The league, which doesn't acknowledge drug tests until there is a final determination, had no comment on the appeal.

--The NFL Players Association filed a grievance against the Titans on behalf of Steve McNair, accusing the team of breaching the quarterback's contract when it barred him from working out at its facility.

BASEBALL: Boston Red Sox center fielder Coco Crisp (Pierce College) has a fracture on the base of his index finger on his left hand and will be sidelined for at least 10 days.

--Atlanta third baseman Chipper Jones went on the 15-day disabled list because of a sprained right knee and ankle.

--Washington reliever Felix Rodriguez was suspended for three games and Nationals manager Frank Robinson for one for their roles in last week's game against the New York Mets in which five batters were hit by pitches.

BASKETBALL: Texas men's basketball coach Rick Barnes is staying, but LaMarcus Aldridge, his star sophomore forward, is leaving, according to a Dallas Morning News report.

The newspaper reported that Barnes will see his annual base salary jump from $1.3 million to $1.8 million with a $125,000 incentive for reaching the NCAA Tournament.

But Barnes will be without Aldridge, who has told teammates and the coaching staff that he's headed for the NBA, according to the report.

AUTO RACING: An amateur race car driver died during a race when his vehicle bumped another roadster, flipped and crashed.

Dan Lawson, 53, of Milpitas died Saturday after crashing at Buttonwillow Raceway in Buttonwillow.

HOCKEY: Nashville goaltender Tomas Vokoun will miss the final four games of the regular season and the entire postseason because of blood clots.

The 29-year-old Vokoun has not played since April. General manager David Poile said Monday that Vokoun has pelvic thrombophlebitis.
