EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE Edwards Air Force Base, U.S. military installation, 301,000 acres (121,805 hectares), S Calif., NE of Lancaster; est. 1933. It is one of the largest air force bases in the United States and has the world's longest runway.  - A military police officer killed in a pre-dawn crash when her vehicle overturned was identified as 18-year-old Erin Frasier.

Child flown to aid after auto crash

LANCASTER - A child was flown to a hospital Tuesday morning after being hit by a vehicle, authorities said.

The child, whose name was not released, was struck about 10:30 a.m. on Pillsbury Street, officials said. The injuries were not believed to be life-threatening, sheriff's deputies said. The child's name was not immediately available.
