Festival explores whale migration

POINT MUGU - The 10th annual Point Mugu State Park Point Mugu State Park is a large park located in the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area in Southern California. It is in the Western Santa Monica Mountains. The park can be accessed from the north in the Satwiwa Native American Indian Culture Center and from the south  Whale Festival will be held 9 a.m.-4 p.m. March 12 at Sycamore Cove to celebrate the annual migration of the gray whale.

The festival features entertainment, handicrafts, food and children's activities.

Booths will be set up by agencies such as Heal the Bay Heal the Bay is a U.S. environmental advocacy non-profit organization based in Santa Monica, California.

Heal the Bay is dedicated to protecting California's Santa Monica Bay, a region of the Pacific coast encompassed by Malibu's Point Dume on the north and the Palos Verdes

The event is free, but there is a $10 day-use parking fee to park in the state beach parking lots.

Sycamore Cove is located five miles north of the Ventura-Los Angeles county line on Pacific Coast Highway Pacific Coast Highway may refer to:

. A free shuttle service will be available from the parking lots at Mugu Beach, five miles north of Sycamore Cove, and at Leo Leo, in astronomy
Leo [Lat.,=the lion], northern constellation lying S of Ursa Major and on the ecliptic (apparent path of the sun through the heavens) between Cancer and Virgo; it is one of the constellations of the zodiac.
 Carillo State Park, six miles south.

The event is partially accessible with a limited number of sand wheelchairs available for checkout.

Nonprofit seeks fundraiser theme

THOUSAND OAKS - Organizers of Senior Concerns' ``Ultimate Dining Experience'' fundraising event are seeking designs from Ventura and western Los Angeles County artists to provide the nonprofit social service agency with a theme to highlight the group's Aug. 6 fundraising event.

The annual gourmet dining gala is held each year at the Hyatt Westlake Plaza, and has been Senior Concerns' major fundraiser over the past 20 years.

The entry form must be returned to Senior Concerns by March 31, and the completed artwork provided to Senior Concerns by April 14.

Program explores career chances

THOUSAND OAKS - A program on career opportunities in math, science and technology will be held 8 a.m.-noon March 11 at California Lutheran University Mission statement
The University's mission statement is as follows:

Schools seeking fundraising help

AGOURA HILLS - Supporters of Willow Elementary School are seeking sponsors and auction items for the school's May 5 fundraiser.

Event organizers have already received $10,000 from Neftin Westlake Volvo and Volkswagen as the title sponsor of the gala, to be held at the Hyatt Westlake Plaza Hotel.

Funds from the event go into the school's music, computer, physical education and arts programs, officials said.

Organizers hope to raise $100,000. For information about becoming a sponsor or donating items for the events raffle and auction, call (818) 597-9043 or (818) 865-0588.
