Eugene boy reported missing on Mount Hood

A 13-year-old boy from Eugene, Brian Cross, was reported missing Sunday from the Multipor Ski Bowl on Mount Hood.

Cross went missing about 3 p.m., and the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office was notified at 5:38 p.m., a dispatch clerk said. The county's search and rescue unit began searching for the youth, joined by Portland Mountain Rescue, Pacific Northwest Search and Rescue and other groups, The Oregonian newspaper reported on its Web site.

Oakridge, Westfir

OAKRIDGE - Residents in Oakridge and Westfir lost their electrical power about 8:45 p.m. Sunday because of a fault in a Bonneville Power Administration The Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) is a U.S. self-financed federal agency which transmits and sells wholesale electricity in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and western Montana. The BPA is part of the U.S. Department of Energy, and is headquartered in Portland, Oregon.  transmission line, Lane Electric officials said.

Officials were uncertain Sunday if the outage was weather-related. They hoped to have power restored by or before midnight.

According to preliminary reports, BPA BPA British Paediatric Association.  confirmed that a fault had occurred about 15 miles from the Lookout Point powerhouse. BPA crews were working to fix that problem, while U.S. Army Corps of Engineers personnel headed to the Hills Creek powerhouse to begin the switching process to restore power to the Oakridge substation.

Animals evacuated

from pet store blaze

COOS BAY - An electrical fire caused minor damage late Saturday night to a pet store here.

Firefighters were called to a blaze in the back room of Cuddled Critters Pets and Supplies at 275 S. Broadway shortly before 11 p.m. An employee managed to extinguish the fire and safely evacuate the animals.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation but does not appear to be suspicious, according to a Coos Bay Fire Department spokesman.

No damage estimate was available Sunday night.
