Man thrown from motorcycle, killed

A 41-year-old man from Canoga Park died early Tuesday morning when he was thrown from his motorcycle on the Santa Ana Freeway The Santa Ana Freeway is one of the principal freeways in Southern California, connecting Los Angeles, California and its southeastern suburbs. Red Cross seeks blood donations

Southland hospitals have only a one-day supply of O-Negative and B- Negative blood types, according to the American Red Cross.

The shortage of these blood types was created by fewer blood donations in December and January, not only in Southern California, but nationwide.

``High school and college students donate about 20 percent of our blood, but many schools break during the holidays, so we see fewer donors,'' said Cliff Numark, director of donor recruitment for the American Red Cross.

Not guilty pleas in prostitution case
